Summer Movies

Another Summer has come and past which goes hand in hand with the fact that most of the big blockbuster movies of the year are now behind us. Though I have not seen every single movie over the summer, I have seen the majority of them. The following list will compile what movies I rank as the best of the summer.

1.Inception
Christopher Nolan strikes again and makes us double think reality in a mindblowing original story that will make you wonder if you are dreaming. Note: You MUST see this movie from the first second to the very last.

2.Dinner for Schmucks
This movie made me laugh from beginning to end. Steve Carell takes on his role of an idiot that makes Michael Scott look like a genius. Zach Galifianakis also creates a bizarre character that will "captivate" you. ;)

3.Scott Pilgrim vs The World
Filled with more video game references to make the average nerd pee his pants, this film is like a video game itself even though it is based off of a comic book series. Chris Evans, Brandon Routh, and Jason Schwartzman make this a true "epic of epic epicness" and the Seinfield scene just makes it that much better.

4.Toy Story 3
It is sad to see this film at #4 on the list but it was still very much brilliant in everyway. The final scene is the one that will tear your heart to pieces. I love how the colors are so vibrant in this movie!

5.Ironman 2
I liked the first one better. This wasnt bad or anything but the first one was better. Robert Downey Jr. makes a great eccentric superhero!

Hey-ooo

After my little break over the summer I am back! Over the past few weeks I have spent most of my time either working, watching movies, going to the beach, playing guitar or packing boxes for the move. Yup, we are moving but its locally.

I am now back in school but this year things are a little different. I am taking the college courses like I have in the last two semesters but this time I am going to go full time there and spend my Senior year in high school doing the work at the college. New classes I am taking include Environmental Science, Economics, a P.E. class and also 3 different theatre classes. As for right now I am going to try and major in Theatre Arts and pursue and something in that field. The last two nights I attended two events required by a theatre class. The first show was an Improv show and the second one was known as The Complete Works of Shakesphere.

I saw the Shakesphere one earlier tonight and it was much like a sort of comedy play, like a satire. Almost all of the males played females and vice-versa and everybody's costumes were outrageous but still fit in with the theme. A nice touch of pop culture references also sprinkled the production. While some of the acting wasnt that great, there were a few that stood out among the others and just made them shine even brighter.

Well thats all ive got for now. Hopefully I will blog more often again, but isnt that what I always say? ;)

Dove Awards

Today is the event that drives all of the greatest christian artists to Nashville, TN for the Annual Dove Awards. For those of you who don't know what I am talking about, it is like the Grammys for Christian music. The problem is that most of the time the GMA (Gospel Music Association, not Good Morning America) picks almost the same artists every year. It is always so predictible on who will be nominated because it is usually the CCM artists that are overplayed on stations like KlOVE and KFSH. I'm not saying that these artists are bad but I will say that most often there are better bands to pick then just Jeremy Camp, Third Day and Brandon Heath. Even the some Rock catagories are nominated to artists that don't even come close to deserving it

Okay so enough on bashing the dove awards and now I will start my predictions on who will win, who should have won, and who was just out of the whole picture but totally deserved it. You can view the whole nomination list here

Restart

Well its been yet another month since I have blogged. I keep meaning to do this more but I am always too busy or lazy to do so. You will now find that I am not updating My Flick Reviews any further but it will be still available where it is now if you want to read any of the old posts.

Now any new movie reviews that I decide that I want to do will be found here on this blog. My blog is now actually retitled to "The Blog of EN". I may change it again later but that is what I have picked right now. I don't hate the old name but I thought it was time for a new name. If you have a suggestion then please let me know and maybe I will consider it. =)

As Mad as a Hatter

I have been waiting and highly anticipating the new Alice in Wonderland for a while now and it has been finally released this weekend though I found it a bit disappointing (If you would like to read my review of this film you can see it here at "My Flick Reviews"). Working at a movie theater, we have been trying to pump up the movie with different aspects of decorating the theater and also allowing the employees to wear a crazy hat on opening weekend. This weekend I happened to get the duty of taking tickets at the door and directing people where to go and so I brought a classic "Cat in the Hat" hat to wear and I actually had a lot of customers saying that they liked it (though I also got a lot of odd looks).

I also bought a copy of a CD with songs based off of Danny Elfman's music on the film and the film itself called "Almost Alice". Even thought there are a few annoying songs I would suggest you pick it up if you like pop-punk type of music. Also the Hot Topic version comtains a few bonus tracks for the same price.

Throughout the day yesterday I had a large amount of the guests come up to me asking which theater to go to see Alice. Some actually asked for "Wizard of Oz" in 3D and a surprising amount of people asked me were the "Cat in the Hat" was playing. I am guessing that my hat was taking some of the customer's mind off of what they were going to say. I'm not exactly sure how "The Wizard of Oz" came to mind since it came out way back in 1939 but I suppose that it could be mistaken as another whimsical adventure movie.

Oh Harmonica!

Today I went on a bike trip to the mall and purchased a gift for my younger brother's birthday. While I was there I also went to Guitar Center and purchased a harmonica and a beginners book on how to play it. I have been playing it off and on today. Though being new at the instrument I have made some progress in learning some basics and also a few songs. I am hoping to get better at it and maybe buy a better quality one in the future. I know that I have some mess-ups in this video but I made just for documentation so that someday I can look back and hopefully see how much better I am.

Oh and I also got a new haircut today!
